use hope+simple present to describe a present of future desire or expectation ( i hope you get an a!) use hope+will for future expectations only. use wish+would+base form o express annoyance or dissatisfaction with a situation in the present or future (i wish it would stop raining) use wish+ simple past/past continuous to express desire for a change in a present situation. (i wish i had a lot of money) (i wish it weren't raining right now) use wish+could/would+base form to express desire for a different situation in the future. use wish+past perfect to express regret about a past situation. (i wish i had studied harder at school)
